It’s not an easy thing to do
sharing things that they’ve been through.
Exposing all those inner fears
can sometimes bring them close to tears.
When someone tries to make a start
at sharing what is in their heart.
There’s little that’s comparable
for making them feel vulnerable.
For those who share their pain’s affect,
I have the greatest of respect.
To share when back’s against the wall
can offer insight to us all.
It can seem very hard at first
to talk of things when at their worst.
But if you do, you light the way
enabling folk to have their say.
You give the opportunity
for folks to show their unity.
They see things from your point of view
because of what they have been through.
It seems this process rarely fails
to help the people tell their tales.
As they reply and think they should,
it helps them feel they’re doing good.
So sure, it comes as no surprise
for me to praise these great replies.
I love to see you folks converse
at those times when things get worse.
Your stories fill me with great pride,
for I no longer have to hide.
And if I can’t express myself,
I use your stories from the shelf.
